Content Description

This collection contains 191 photographic negatives and 307 photographic prints for a total of 316 unique images. 39 of the images are in color, the remainder are in black and white. Most of the photographs were captured by mail carrier and amateur photographer Albert F. Brown of Boise, Idaho. Subjects include street views of Boise, construction projects, fairs, and rodeos. This collection also contains images of Brown's family and portraits of Brown himself.

Identified individuals include Moses Alexander (far left), Nathan Alexander (second from left), Leha Alexander (sixth from left in dark skirt), Nettie Alexander (seventh from left, seated between bicycles), and Emma Alexander (seated far right). All others in photograph are unidentified.

Three prints of the Alfred Eoff dwelling on Main Street in a paper bound book. The Eoff house was built in 1897 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is of the Queen Anne style architecture and built and designed by Tourtellotte and Hummel.

This black and white photographic print shows the stone cutting crew in front of the stone yard where the sandstone from Table Rock quarry was cut into blocks used in the construction of the Idaho State Capitol. Robert O. Murrie is the sixth man from the right.

This black and white photographic print shows a herd of deer feeding at Hot Wells near the Old Idaho Penitentiary during winter. The deer are grouped together in a field at the base of the Boise foothills which are covered in snow. Power poles and unidentified structures can be seen in the left-hand side of the image.
